Vampire Weekend Live @ The Joint

PURE AWESOMENESS!!! They are the cutest band ever, EVAR! They are one of those bands that sound supertastic live, and I will pay twice what I paid ($17!) to see them again. And did I mention that they are the cutest band EVER?! Intense energy from Ezra Koenig, all nice and tidy in his long-sleeve shirt tucked-into his summery white pants, but it was over too soon. Can’t wait for that next album to drop.

That pop formula brings me back to day-glo neons and side ponytail-hair and socks with pumps. It’s an 80s party that’s polished now that they’ve been officially produced by an official musician. Good head-bobbing and sing-along stuff. I don’t take it too seriously. Just the way I never took The Bangles seriously.

I mean, fabulous! And infectious to say the least. When did Chris Martin and Co. start sounding so much chipper?! iPod commercial? It certainly has been on my iPod all morning (car/desk/car/desk/singing out loud in the galley) and I can tell you, I certainly feel strangely upbeat. No more brooding. No more melancholy. I am ready to dance and shake my bum on the table tops and live la vida loca! I mean, thanks Brain Eno for putting in the “good bits”—I’m having such a good listen I don’t think I’m ready to shuffle just yet.
